Water Bottle Cap Feeder Jams: Follow Orientation and Demand
Intermittent cap starvation can originate before the chute, within the transfer path or at the capper pickup. Separate an empty supply path from a blocked or poorly oriented one. Keep cap lots, formats and event timing in the same record.
Follow the observed pattern
| What you observe | What to compare next |
|---|---|
| Caps bridge or stop in one location | Record cap orientation, lot and precise blockage point from a safe position. Have maintenance compare approved guides and change parts during isolated inspection. |
| Feed falls behind only at sustained output | Compare capper consumption, feeder delivery, hopper replenishment and chute occupancy across the full run. A short successful burst is not proof of sustained supply. |
| Jams follow a cap or format change | Compare cap drawings, actual dimensions, storage condition and approved recipe or change-part identifiers. Retain acceptable and failed lot samples for supplier review. |
Evidence to send with a support request
Send a location sketch, safely captured event sequence, cap specification and lot, feeder and capper states, format setup and supply history. Keep cap hygiene and reject controls in place while evaluating supply reliability.
Illustrative diagnostic comparison
If the capper stops with a full chute above a blocked pickup, increasing feeder output may worsen the queue. If the chute progressively empties without a local blockage, investigate sustained replenishment and demand instead of changing the capping head first.
Confirm the next action
Record the bottle, cap and material lot; machine and format recipe; time, speed and operating state. Separate direct observations from suspected causes. Preserve an unchanged comparison and identify who approved any trial.
- Record the approved change, comparable before-and-after observations, defect counts with their denominators, and quality or maintenance approval. A symptom disappearing once does not establish a durable correction.
- Repeat the check during the operating state that originally produced the defect. Keep restart losses and rejected product in the record; a faster machine reading alone is not proof of improvement.
Use approved site procedures and the machine manual. Isolate energy before physical inspection or clearing a jam; never bypass guards or interlocks. Quality personnel decide containment and release of affected product. These guides do not prescribe universal pressure, temperature, torque or cleaning settings.

Required evidence — Water Bottle Cap Feeder & Capping System | Planning Guide
| Input or result / Unit | Evidence to request | Substitution to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Usable cap stock (Quantity) | Count caps actually usable by the feeder at the declared operating condition. Identify stock excluded because it is inaccessible, blocked, rejected or not approved for use. | A hopper fill line or nominal storage capacity may not equal usable cap count. Refill planning also requires the actual replenishment process and demand boundary. |
| Bottle rate (Bottles/h) | Identify the counted bottle boundary and the exact observation interval. Retain opening and closing counter readings, accepted quantity and operating mode so the hourly rate can be reproduced. | A machine nameplate rate, instantaneous display and accepted output over a shift are different records. Do not substitute one for another without stating the change of basis. |
