Deformed or Loose Water Bottle Shrink Packs: Separate the Causes

Loose wrapping, a weak seam and deformed bottles are different failure patterns. Record the bottle and pack configuration, film identity and tunnel operating state before changing heating conditions. A visually tighter pack may still be unsuitable for handling or palletizing.

Follow the observed pattern

What you observe What to compare next
Packs are loose with intact bottles Compare the approved film construction and dimensions, pack geometry, seam and recorded tunnel recipe. Check whether the pattern follows a film roll or format change.
Bottles deform inside the pack Identify where deformation first appears and whether bottles were stable before wrapping. Ask packaging and equipment specialists to review the combined bottle, film and heat exposure.
Seams split during handling Compare seam position and appearance before and after a defined handling check. Distinguish seal formation from later abrasion or excessive package stress.

Evidence to send with a support request

Send film and bottle lots, actual pack arrangement, seam images, tunnel recipe revision, speed and sample conditioning. Include the agreed handling requirement and matched acceptable packs; do not infer film thickness from appearance.

Illustrative diagnostic comparison

If a pack exits neatly but its seam opens during the agreed handling trial, cosmetic inspection alone has missed the relevant task. Preserve that sequence when comparing an approved material or setup change, and include downstream pack stability in the result.

Confirm the next action

Record the bottle, cap and material lot; machine and format recipe; time, speed and operating state. Separate direct observations from suspected causes. Preserve an unchanged comparison and identify who approved any trial.

  1. Record the approved change, comparable before-and-after observations, defect counts with their denominators, and quality or maintenance approval. A symptom disappearing once does not establish a durable correction.
  2. Repeat the check during the operating state that originally produced the defect. Keep restart losses and rejected product in the record; a faster machine reading alone is not proof of improvement.

Use approved site procedures and the machine manual. Isolate energy before physical inspection or clearing a jam; never bypass guards or interlocks. Quality personnel decide containment and release of affected product. These guides do not prescribe universal pressure, temperature, torque or cleaning settings.

Required evidence — Water Bottle Shrink Film Specification

Input or result / Unit Evidence to request Substitution to avoid
Film length (m) Retain usable film length for the stated roll or material quantity, identifying excluded leader, defects or remnants. Tie it to the material specification. Roll mass cannot be converted to film length without the relevant material and geometry assumptions. A nominal roll length needs a declared verification basis.
Film width (mm) Record actual film-web width from the supplier specification or a suitable measurement. Identify whether the material is flat, folded or otherwise described. A folded width and an unfolded width can represent different material quantities. Use the width basis that matches the simple volume estimate.
