Water Bottle Condensation Before Labeling: Find the Moisture Source
Water on a bottle may be carried from rinsing or filling, or it may condense again after drying. Separate these paths before choosing a dryer. Compare bottle-surface temperature with local dew-point conditions along the route, using appropriate instruments and recorded locations.
Follow the observed pattern
| What you observe | What to compare next |
|---|---|
| Water is already present at filler discharge | Map wet areas and compare carryover, drips and the actual transfer path. Establish the first wet point before assessing downstream removal equipment. |
| Bottles dry, then become wet again | Compare surface temperature and local dew point at successive stations and times. Investigate environmental exposure with the responsible process or HVAC specialist. |
| Moisture appears only on part of the bottle | Record bottle orientation, neck and base features, conveyor contact and airflow coverage. A dry front photograph does not prove the whole label area is dry. |
Evidence to send with a support request
Send a station-by-station moisture map, surface and air measurement methods, humidity or dew-point records, line speed and label requirements. Distinguish free water, condensation and a suspected package leak before selecting corrective equipment.
Illustrative diagnostic comparison
If the surface is dry immediately after the dryer but wet at the labeler, more drying at the earlier position may not prevent recondensation. Repeat the observation during the problematic environmental period and compare the actual labeling surface.
Confirm the next action
Record the bottle, cap and material lot; machine and format recipe; time, speed and operating state. Separate direct observations from suspected causes. Preserve an unchanged comparison and identify who approved any trial.
- Record the approved change, comparable before-and-after observations, defect counts with their denominators, and quality or maintenance approval. A symptom disappearing once does not establish a durable correction.
- Repeat the check during the operating state that originally produced the defect. Keep restart losses and rejected product in the record; a faster machine reading alone is not proof of improvement.
Use approved site procedures and the machine manual. Isolate energy before physical inspection or clearing a jam; never bypass guards or interlocks. Quality personnel decide containment and release of affected product. These guides do not prescribe universal pressure, temperature, torque or cleaning settings.

Required evidence — Water Filling Temperature and Product Handling
| Input or result / Unit | Evidence to request | Substitution to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Net product mass (g) | Keep the gross weighing and corresponding packaging tare used to obtain net product mass. State the balance identification and the sample condition. | Bottle, cap and label mass must not remain in a value named net product mass. An average tare method needs its own justification and retained records. |
| Product density (g/mL) | Record product density in g/mL at the measurement condition, together with its source and any temperature basis. Link it to the net-mass sample. | Do not enter a kg/m³ numeral directly in a g/mL field. A familiar nominal water density is not automatically the density established for the actual measurement. |
