Uneven Water Fill Volume: Trace the Pattern Before Adjusting
Different liquid heights do not by themselves prove different net volumes. Start with a defined, repeatable net-content measurement, then group results by filling valve, bottle lot and operating state. Keep still-water diagnosis separate from carbonated-product filling behavior.
Follow the observed pattern
| What you observe | What to compare next |
|---|---|
| One valve repeatedly differs | Retain valve identification and sample order. Compare the same bottle format across valves before maintenance checks the valve, seal and relevant flow path under isolation. |
| All valves drift together | Align the samples with product-tank level, incoming supply and start/stop events. A shared time pattern points to a common condition that a single-valve adjustment cannot explain. |
| Only the visible height changes | Compare empty-container dimensions, tare and measured contents. Bottle geometry and temperature can change appearance; do not calibrate a volumetric decision from a photograph alone. |
Evidence to send with a support request
Send the measurement method, instrument status, bottle and valve identifiers, target basis, sample sequence, product temperature and supply trend. State whether the value is volume, mass or visual level; retain the full sample set rather than only extremes.
Illustrative diagnostic comparison
If bottles look uneven but measured contents remain comparable, investigate container variation before changing filler dosing. If one identified valve also shows a persistent content difference, that is a separate, stronger maintenance lead. Neither observation establishes the permitted legal tolerance.
Confirm the next action
Record the bottle, cap and material lot; machine and format recipe; time, speed and operating state. Separate direct observations from suspected causes. Preserve an unchanged comparison and identify who approved any trial.
- Record the approved change, comparable before-and-after observations, defect counts with their denominators, and quality or maintenance approval. A symptom disappearing once does not establish a durable correction.
- Repeat the check during the operating state that originally produced the defect. Keep restart losses and rejected product in the record; a faster machine reading alone is not proof of improvement.
Use approved site procedures and the machine manual. Isolate energy before physical inspection or clearing a jam; never bypass guards or interlocks. Quality personnel decide containment and release of affected product. These guides do not prescribe universal pressure, temperature, torque or cleaning settings.

Required evidence — Volumetric vs Level Filling for Bottled Water
| Input or result / Unit | Evidence to request | Substitution to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Target volume (mL) | Identify the target volume and the approved product or packaging specification revision it belongs to. Keep the unit and basis for the target visible. | Nominal label volume, a machine setting and an internal process target can differ. State which one the deviation is being compared against. |
| Measured volume (mL) | Retain the measured sample volume, method, condition and bottle identifier. Show whether the value is an individual result or a summary of a group. | Visible fill height is not a volume measurement without a suitable relationship. Do not use an average to conceal a sample that needs separate investigation. |
